Our Information and Referral Coordinator can help determine what services and resources we can provide that will
help you live safely and comfortably. Call Jan Andersen at (830)
792-4044, ext. 225 to learn more.
Some of the help we can provide includes:
Emergency Response Systems – We use the
PAL personal
monitoring system, which can be installed in a standard phone jack.
A personal help button is worn either around your neck or on your
wrist. If assistance is needed - any time, day or night, - a simple
push of the button will connect you to the PAL Operator. The
operator will summon appropriate help, based on your pre-determined
preferences.
Medical Equipment Lending – Donated medical equipment, such
as walkers, canes, bedside commodes, transfer benches, toilet risers,
wheelchairs, etc. are loaned out on an ‘as needed’ basis.
Reassurance Calls – If you
live alone and just want to 'check in' with someone on a daily
basis, get on our Reassurance Call list. After registering for
this free service, our Reception Desk Volunteers will look forward
to your morning call. If we don't hear from you, we'll contact
the person you have designated to go and check on you.
911 Cell Phones – We have
free cell phones that can be used to dial 911 in the event of an
emergency, even if you don't have a cell phone account. We
also accept used cell phones that are no longer needed. If you
need a cell phone to call 911, make an appointment through our
Information and Referral Coordinator, Jan Andersen, at 792-4044, ext.
225.
ARE
YOU A CAREGIVER TO A LOVED ONE?
Caregiving is a loving gesture coupled with an awesome responsibility!
We’re here to help – both you and the loved one you
care about!
TAKE FIVE CLUB

their own age group? Is your loved one challenged by early
dementia, Parkinson’s,
or other problems that makes it impossible for them to be on their
own? He or she might enjoy our TAKE FIVE CLUB! Just drop your loved
one off at our center in the morning where they'll enjoy fun,
supervised activities
and a nutritious, hot lunch. You can pick them up in the afternoon,
around 2:00pm.
While they’re enjoying themselves in safety at our center,
YOU will have 4 to 5 hours of free time!
Cost for the Take Five Club is $35 per day. Check out our FREE DVD to see how much fun our
Take Five Club members have! Call Mary Amburn at

CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP
The
Dietert Center is the home of some active Caregiver Support Groups,
which are free and open to any caregiver. Join a group on:
- First Thursdays of
the month at Noon - 2nd Floor Conference Room. Bring a sack
lunch and join other family caregivers. We're grateful to the social workers from
Heart Choices Elder Care who facilitate this support group.
- Second and Fourth Mondays of
the month - 1:00 to 2:00pm - Take Five Club Room #2.
This group is facilitated by Jan Andersen, Dietert's Information and
Referral Specialist, and is scheduled so family caregivers of Take
Five Club participants can get together - but all are invited to
participate.
