"Meals On Wheels" Needs Your Help! "Adopt A Senior" Today!
Our kitchen prepares more than 270 hot lunches every weekday, which are delivered throughout Kerr County to home-bound, frail elderly. Last year, more than 68,900 meals were the lifeline that helped keep these elders independent and out of nursing homes or assisted care! Our meals are delivered by some of the most wonderful and dedicated volunteers! These kind folks donate their time, their vehicles and their gas to bring warm friendship and a hot lunch to area shut-ins. This program has grown significantly over the last year - we delivered 10,000 more meals than expected. While we are serving more seniors than ever, our federal funding has been reduced by $19,287. This means that only 34% of the meals we deliver will be subsidized. However, we don't want to put folks on a waiting list, since we know they need to eat. That's why a majority of our fundraising effort goes to cover the cost of providing these meals - our seniors need you more than ever! YOU CAN HELP BY SPONSORING MEALS FOR A SENIOR!
